FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is "Domestic Violence"?

Domestic Violence is considered violence or threats of immediate violence by certain family members, a partner you live with or have lived with, your husband or wife, an ex-spouse, a current or former boyfriend or girlfriend, the father or mother of your child, your child, your parents, your brother or sister. What do we do to help?

Our firm will prepare the legal documents that you will need to file and obtain a restraining order against the person who has been violent with you or threatened violence against you. Unlike many other services available, our firm will send one of our qualified attorneys to the hearing to make sure that you are not alone when arguing your case to the judge.

What does it cost?

Our firm has a sliding scale basis for this service. Depending on your income this service may be completely free or you may be charged a maximum fee of $50.00. Please note that there is no filing fee charged for a Domestic Violence Restraining Order and there is no charge for having the sheriff or one of our process servers serve the papers on the abuser.

Please call our office and schedule an appointment to come in or come in on Monday before 10a.m. to take part in our walk in clinic.
